Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series marker set?
Hey guys, New to paintball and thinking of purchasing a Tippmann 98 custom platinum marker “package” on amazon. * Package includes Brand New 98 Custom Platinum Marker * Xtreme Rage Anti Fog Mask with Visor * Pure Energy Premium 20 oz Tank * Tippmann Barrel condom and spare parts and Jerk Sqiueegee
All for $150, good price?
And if so, what upgrades are recommended? (I like a versatile scope that can be used for short-medium ranges) Thanks so much for the help!
I was just surfing around on Amazon and found the Spyder Pilot set, it is basically the same items (they threw in some extra stuff) for $180. Is the Spyder PILOT a better marker, worth the extra 30 bucks? Thanks a lot!

First of all the 98 Custom platinum is a good marker but that package isn’t worth it. Xtreme Rage masks are junk and will fog a lot. If you want a good marker package just find one on eBay. I got mine for $130 shipped with the same gun, a better mask, better barrel, same tank (not new), gloves,etc. You can even find better deals than that.
Best beginning upgrades for the 98 Custom are a stock and better barrel such as a flatline, J&J Ceramic, Tippmann Werks/sniper barrel, etc. Scopes are worthless in paintball: save your money for paint.
The Pilot is a good marker but probably not what you will want as a beginner because it’s geared towards speedball. It’s best not to buy paintball markers/marker packages on Amazon.
Edit: Spyder markers aren’t junk or cheaply made Stefan R.
