I have a 1899 reverse painting and want to place on ebay but not sure what to start the bid at?

I have researched and had it apprasied for $800.00 about 8 yrs ago. Can someone give me advise

Well, if you have a set price in your mind what you’d like to receive for the painting then you can always set your initial asking price low to attract attention but have a ‘Reserve Price’ which is not disclosed to bidders. Say you want $800. You can start bidding a $1 with a reserve price of $800 so if the bidding does not reach $800 then it does not sell and people need to keep bidding until it reaches that point. Of course if bidding goes over $800 great, it may sell for much more. Ebayers can be fickle though and it may take several tries before it sells. Good luck!
