Quaker State “q power” motor oil?
So are their different types of motor oils (“Q Horsepower” and “Q Torque Power”) really work as they say, or are they just hype? I aks because there are so many different synthetic oils out now and Quaker state seems to have more varieties than anyone else.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated, especially since my wife loves to punch the pedal on our suv with over 100k miles when on the highway or just driving around.

Sounds like you need a Bat Cave and Bat Mobile too! 
Oh Yes! There is much hype on motor oils these days with the advent of the Synthetic’s hitting the market as heavily as they have.
First things first though. You state that your vehicle has 100,000 miles on it. Well its time to switch to a heavier oil. The oils that I would definately recommend taking a good look at is made by Chevron. Their Delo 400 15w-40 is an industial oil that is approved by Caterpillar, Cummings, and Detriot Diesel. Its lubricating properties rival that of synthetic oils. Yet this is not a blended oil, nor is it a synthetic. It is a Natural Oil.
Yes it is a Diesel Approved oil, but that does not mean that it cannot be used in Gasoline Engines, in fact it has a Gasoline Service Rating of SJ, SC, SG. These are ratings for Commercial Gasoline Engines and Heavy Duty.
This means the oils is better suited to hostile envorinments. If you are hedging your bet because of the cost of the Synthetics, this oils is the way to go.
However, if you insist on going with a Synthetic oil then you need to choose the oldest name in the game, Mobil 1. I would recommend their 15w-50 weight due to the milage on your vehicle. This will help prevent it from burning oil, due to it being a little thicker. Just keep the oil changes happening every 3000 miles or 90 days and you should be able to put another 100,000 miles on that baby.
Just remember to service your transmission annually, along with coolant and any other fluids. Keep that Air filter changed and the vehicle tuned up.
