It is truly amazing the interest in human behavior that we’ve found from our audience during this series; “what makes humans tick.” In fact, it’s been so successful that I am considering doing another full-length series next quarter on a similar topic, and I must say what’s made the show so successful has been the call-ins from the audience, you’ve really kept us going haven’t you. Bravo, bravo I say!
Boy oh boy, the last couple of shows have really gotten lively, and yes we’ve had it a few crazy callers but when you think about it they were right on topic weren’t they? After all, you could say that is human behavior in the wild at its finest? Amazing how many times I had to use the “bleep-out” device. I must tell you, there’s no need to get upset over this topic, even if it offends you.
Each and every one of us choose our own behavior, if you want to call up and curse at me – be my guest, but don’t be surprised if I hang up or bleep-out half of what you say, because I am in control here, and I’ve got the 5 second delay! Okay are you ready to play? Let’s go ahead and take the fifth caller & get this show on the road. The subtopic today will be about how human beings go out of their way to entertain themselves. After we pay some bills here with a couple of commercials, I like to see those little “phone call lights” light right up.
“Hello Bill you’re on the air from Daytona Florida how are you today?”
“I live out here in Daytona Florida, and as you know we are known for our NASCAR, and we love speed; so I ask you; why do humans have the need for speed?”
“Yee Ha! Good buddy, yes it is amazing isn’t it, it is a very great question, a great question indeed, why is it that humans have a need for speed?”
Okay let’s talk about this, why do horses like to run? They don’t really have any predators, they aren’t really going anyplace, they often have grass to eat and water to drink, and they seem to be very happy animals. In fact no need to do much of anything, but they love to run around, get themselves all tired, with no apparent place to go. I feel like reciting that song, how does it go; “I’m in a hurry to get things done, I run and run until life’s no fun, all I really need to do is live, and die, but I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.”
Hopefully somebody or someone in the audience out there can help me out with that that country song and tell me the name of the group. And while we’re on the topic of horses, and country music, what about dogs they like to go fast do you ever take your dog for ride in your car and he sticks his head out the window, why does he do that? It seems dogs like to go fast, and feel the air rushing in their nostrils.
And Bill, isn’t Daytona Florida where everyone gets together on their Harley-Davidson’s? Why do they do that, why do they love the open road and just get out there and go – ride like the wind? And why do people buy those crotch rockets. They go from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds, top out at 180 miles an hour and can barely get into second year in the city? You can hardly ride a race bike like that without breaking the law, heck, I’m surprised they don’t give out speeding tickets when they’re parked, because obviously they can’t catch it once they get going. Oh yeah, you can’t out run the radio they say. “Good Ness Gracious – GreatBalls of Fire!” as the song goes.
