What is the fancy term that refers to the front air dam on a stock car (nascar)?
Yes I think it was a splitter but there was another term that started with a V like valiant or something that I heard once..
It’s called a splitter..
Although the announcers always refer to it as a “front splitter”..
That seems a little silly because there is no other splitter on the car to distinguish it from..
Edit: The splitter is the horizontal blade that sticks out in front of the car, along the ground..
The valance is the piece that that comes straight down from the “chin” of the car, and the splitter is attached to the bottom of that.. It also has other names such as “front air dam”, and when they first began using it on race cars in the sixties, it was called a “spook” (I have no idea why)..
